Spring Fling Marketplace (Community Event)
Location: Augusta Armory
Spring Fling Marketplace is a huge two day event with many crafters, small businesses, vendors, outdoor yard sales and so much more that there is definitely fun and something for everyone. All to support Disabled American Veterans (DAV). There will be a big raffle to help the DAV raise money for a handicap accessible park and other projects they do for our veterans. Walk To End Domestic Violence (Fundraiser)

Save the Date! Safe Voices, Walk to End Domestic Violence will be held Saturday, June 15th, 2013 at Simard-Payne Memorial Park in Lewiston. Registration begins at 9:30am, opening ceremony 10:00 am and events until noon. Come join us for a day in the park as we support those affected by domestic violence and walk against abuse in our community. This event promotes awareness about the effects of domestic violence and raises money to help further the mission of Safe Voices. Fun activities include wellness stations with massage and health screenings and children’s activities, there is fun for the whole family. United Way of Mid-Maine Day of Action Food Drive (Fundraiser for Local Hunger Relief)
Time: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Location: he three locations are Elm City Plaza parking lot in Waterville; the “Fairgrounds Marketplace” parking lot (between Wal-Mart and Hannaford) in Skowhegan; and Jimmy’s Market parking lot in Bingham.
On Friday, June 21st, United Way of Mid-Maine will be hosting a Day of Action Food Drive in three locations – Waterville, Skowhegan and Bingham. Community members are asked to bring non-perishable, healthy food items to one of three drop-off locations on Friday, June 21st from 8:00 am – noon. United Way of Mid-Maine volunteers will be at each location to collect and sort the donated food. All food collected will go to over twenty local food banks. Community members are encouraged to visit one of United Way of Mid-Maine’s drop-off locations with a donation of a non-perishable, healthy food item. Items specifically for people who have diabetes are particularly needed. Hygiene products and other personal care items are helpful as well. Local businesses can also host a food drive on site for the week or two prior to the Day of Action and then bring collected items to our volunteers on June 21st.

This year we are continuing our efforts to the Maine Special Olympics; which provide sports training and Olympic-style events for children and adults with a variety of intellectual disabilities. Through these events the participants learn physical fitness, as well as gain life-long friendships with other athletes and members of the community. Come get your car washed, grab some food, and meet some of the Special Olympic Athletes!
