Sandy River Ramblers (Music Event)
Time: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Location: 42 Depot Street Unity, ME 04988

The Sandy River Ramblers are a Maine Bluegrass band with an emphasis on Maine; their 2012 CD, Cry of the Loon and other original songs about Maine, has been called “a gift to Mainers” by Maine writer/columnist George Smith (who used the Ramblers’ song, Slow Down [You’ll Hit a Moose} as a theme song for his tongue-in-cheek run for Governor).Bandleader Stan Keach, who has written songs for many nationally-known Bluegrass bands, says his first love now is writing songs about Maine. He plays guitar. Bud Godsoe (Banjo), Dan Simons (Mandolin), and Finn Woodruff (Fiddle) are the featured lead instrumentalists, and all three are virtuoso performers. Julie Davenport sets the beat on upright bass. Keach, Davenport, and 14-year-old Dana Reynolds are the three featured vocalists; the Ramblers are known for their gorgeous 3-and-4-part harmonies. “Julie is one of the best singers — any genre — in Maine,” says Keach. “It’s kind of a secret, but our fans know.”
